Yoga Therapy
Personalised yoga guidance for greater confidence, clarity and individual attention - in the studio or online.
You do not need to have health problems to choose an individual session. You may want to learn postures and breathing practices correctly, practise more efficiently, gain confidence or create a personal home routine. Individual yoga therapy may also suit you if stress, pain, fatigue, Long COVID or fluctuating capacity calls for careful adaptation. Each session is shaped around your goals, experience and body.
No previous yoga experience is required.
Why choose individual yoga therapy
An individual session may suit you if you:
-
value personal attention and want to practise at your own pace;
-
feel unsure about postures, breathing practices or what suits your body;
-
want to practise more efficiently with a clear goal and focused feedback;
-
would like to build a safe home routine that fits your daily life;
-
want to maintain mobility, strength and confidence as you grow older;
-
live with Long COVID, post-viral symptoms or post-exertional symptoms;
-
experience prolonged stress or burnout symptoms;
-
live with persistent pain, migraine or muscular tension;
-
become tired or overstimulated easily;
-
experience breathing discomfort or an unsettled breathing pattern;
-
are recovering after illness, surgery or a demanding period;
-
have limited or fluctuating capacity.
You do not need a diagnosis or previous yoga experience. When health concerns are involved, yoga therapy is complementary support and does not replace medical or psychological assessment or treatment.
What to expect?
A session is calm, practical and adapted to you. It may include:
1
a brief check-in about your needs, energy and current capacity
2
gentle, functional movement
3
breathing observation and carefully dosed breathing practices
4
mindfulness, meditation and guided relaxation
5
recognising early signs of overexertion
6
a simple practice or home routine tailored to your situation
You may pause, adapt or omit any practice. The aim is not to do as much as possible, but to explore what may support you at this point.
Begin with an extended initial session
The initial session lasts 75 minutes. This gives us time to discuss what you need, try a first practice and choose a realistic next step. There is no obligation to continue. If further support is appropriate, you can choose individual follow-up sessions or a package.
Would a 60- or 75-minute session require too much energy? If your capacity is very limited or fluctuates considerably, the online initial consultation can be divided into two 30-minute sessions.
Briefly describe what you would like support with, what is and is not currently manageable, and three preferred appointment times. Marlies will reply personally at marlies@youarethebuddha.com.
In the studio or online
Sessions are available at Yoga Academy You are the Buddha inside Breda Central Station. If travelling requires too much energy or you live outside Breda, sessions can take place online in your own environment.

Group class or individual yoga therapy
Yoga & Mindfulness is a calm group class with a consistent format and no intake requirement. An individual session may be more suitable if you want full attention for your technique, goals and pace, need specific adaptations or would like to develop a personalised home practice.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need previous yoga experience
No. We begin with what is manageable now. You do not need to be fit or flexible, and you do not need to know any yoga postures.
Can sessions take place online
Yes. Online sessions last 60 minutes and cost €85. This may be suitable if travelling requires too much energy or if you live outside Breda.
Can an online session also last 30 minutes?
Yes. For people with very limited or fluctuating capacity, a 30-minute session may be more manageable. New participants can begin with two 30-minute online sessions for €95. Existing participants can book a short 30-minute online follow-up session for €50.
How many sessions will I need
This depends on your needs. After the initial session, we discuss whether you can continue independently, prefer a single follow-up session or may benefit from a short programme.
Is yoga therapy covered by health insurance
Yoga therapy is not routinely reimbursed by Dutch health insurers. Always check your own policy in advance. Funding may sometimes be available through an employer, reintegration programme or personal budget.
Can I combine yoga therapy with other care
Yes. Yoga therapy can complement medical, allied health or psychological care. Please share relevant professional advice so that practices can be adapted appropriately.
Would you like to find out whether this suits you
Request an initial session. Send a short description of what you would like support with, what is currently manageable and three preferred appointment times. Marlies will reply personally.
Yoga therapy is complementary support, not medical treatment. For new, severe or unexplained symptoms, consult a physician or another appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
