Mindfulness & Meditation
happiness is to be found by living in the moment

It can be difficult for the human mind to stay in the present moment. In fact, a Harvard study found that people spend 46.9 percent of their waking hours thinking about something other than what they are doing. This kind of thoughtlessness is the norm, as the mind spends its time thinking about the past, the future, or muddling through what should have been and what if. The study also showed that putting the brain on autopilot can make people unhappy. "A wandering mind is an unhappy mind," the researchers said. This is where mindfulness can help.
Practicing mindfulness while practicing yoga poses, pilates and formal meditation supports and enriches your ability to be mindful in your daily life. When you practice formal meditation, you strengthen your focus, presence, and mindfulness in every other part of your life. They nourish and support each other.

What is mindfulness according to founder John Kabat-Zinn?
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the simple act of paying attention and noticing and being present in whatever you are doing, without judging.
Meditatie
Meditation is a conscious practice, using focus to increase calmness, concentration, awareness and emotional balance.

While meditation is usually practiced for a set period of time, mindfulness can be applied to any situation throughout the day.
